The Things I Love About You

The list that follows are things I love about you

1. Your smile
_{(I think it brightens up the darkest corners on every house on the street)}

2. The way you hold me tight and whisper ‘I Love You’ in my ear
_{(I’d do the same for you, but you’d have to bend down)}

3. The way that every kiss still makes me all tingly and happy
_{(They really do, I hope mine do the same for you)}

4. That you always seem to want to hold me
_{(I feel that if you don’t, you might slip away)}

5. The fact that you seem so needy sometimes
_{(But that’s okay; it makes me look less needy)}

6. The fact you always seem to be covered in glitter
_{(You said you sweat glitter, but that’s not possible. I think they’re tiny sunbeams the sun gave you to brighten up my day)}

7. That it takes 2.8 seconds for you to flood my mind when I’m trying not to think of you
_{(It’s true, I counted)}

8. The way you play the guitar when I’m around
_{(I always think that every song you play is my song. Even when I know it’s not. I keep the 5 second recording I have on repeat sometimes. It makes me think I’ve heard it more than once)}

9. The way you come over unannounced and make everything better
_{(Just seeing you makes me smile)}

a. And then you curl up into a little ball on my bed when suddenly you realise that it might be your fault, and that all it takes to make you smile again are the whispers of ‘I Love You’ ‘I Forgive You’ and a kiss on the cheek

10. The fact that when you feel sick you want to stay with me to make me happy
_{(I get worried when you’re sick. Even if it’s only a cold, that’s why I give you bigger hugs)}



11. The funny look you give me when I turn off the TV and give you a big hug and a kiss
_{(It’s because I don’t want you looking at people prettier than me)}

12. The way you always say how beautiful I am, even when I don’t feel it
_{(I say the same thing back, but you always seem to shake your head and laugh)}

13. The fact that in total all the presents you’ve given me are; three dead flowers _{(two of which were roses)} , a necklace that broke _{(I still have all the pieces)} , a pen that was almost out of ink _{(I used it til it ran out of ink and then I kept it)} , a chewing gum wrapper _{(I wrote your password on it just for a reason to keep it)} , all the letters you wrote me _{(I keep them in a purple twillings tea box with your name on it)} and the most beautiful necklace I have ever seen
_{(When all I’ve given you is; 2 soft toys from McDonalds - Mr. Mapolarmabear, he likes green jellybeans and Miss Flopsieear, she’s a wallaby. A bracelet that broke you didn’t want to tell me because you knew I’d cry… You were right. A replacement bracelet… You never wear it, so did it break too? A million and one letters in reply to you, although you never seem to write back, a pair of shoes, which I poured my heart and soul into… I’ve seen you wear them once. And yet I still don’t feel like I’ve given you enough)}

14. The way you tell me about the future and your dreams, and that you always hold on tighter so I can’t slip away.

15. The fact that when you leave you hold me tight and whisper, “Just wait till we have our own house. Then neither of us has to leave.”
_{(I like that. I always feel like crying when you go. And sometimes at night I do. And other times I feel like running to your house, but I only get to my bedroom door, ‘cause I worry that I’ll get lost and never see you again. So I crawl back into bed and pull the covers around me real tight and think that you’re just giving me one big hug)}

But most of all I love you because when I whisper, ‘I Love You’, you grab hold of me and pull me into a warm embrace and say ‘I Love You Too’ loud enough for the mice to hear
